You perform mechanical design work in SolidWorks Premium and document your process through high-resolution screenshots to train AI on realistic engineering workflows.
What you would do
- Execute mechanical design tasks creating 3D parts, assemblies, and performing simulations within SolidWorks Premium
- Capture detailed high-resolution screenshots of your work meeting minimum 2.5-megapixel visual fidelity requirements
- Document the sequence of design decisions and modeling steps you followed to complete each assignment
- Verify display configuration meets technical specifications for pixel density before beginning work
- Provide feedback on software performance, workflow efficiency, and design outcomes to support AI training
Who they want
- Hands-on proficiency with SolidWorks Premium including 3D part modeling, assembly design, and simulation capabilities
- Access to SolidWorks Premium installed and ready to use on your Windows PC - no virtual machines or licenses provided
- High-resolution display meeting technical requirements: QHD displays, 4K, 5K, or appropriate dual-monitor setup at 1920x1080 or higher per display
- Experience with mechanical design workflows typical of engineers, tooling designers, or product design roles
- Ability to capture and upload high-quality screenshots consistently and follow task documentation standards
Main skills
What the interview asks about
1.SolidWorks modeling capability
AI training quality depends on tasks executed skillfully; evaluators need to confirm candidates can model complex assemblies without workarounds or errors.
For example: “You are tasked with modeling an assembly with 12 parts, multiple constraint dependencies, and sketch-driven features. Describe your approach to organizing parts and constraints to ensure the assembly remains stable as you iterate.”
2.Screenshot resolution and capture consistency
AI training requires consistent, high-quality visual input; evaluators check whether candidates understand and maintain technical display requirements.
For example: “You have verified your display meets QHD (2560x1440) requirements. Walk through how you would capture and verify each screenshot meets the 2.5-megapixel minimum and maintain consistency across multiple sessions.”
3.Design workflow and documentation
AI learns from documented reasoning, not just tool clicks; evaluators assess whether candidates explain why they made specific modeling choices.
For example: “You are modeling a part where multiple feature sequences could work. How would you decide which sequence to use, and how would you document your reasoning so the AI understands the trade-offs?”
4.Problem-solving in modeling
Real engineering involves recovering from mistakes and choosing efficient paths; evaluators want to know if candidates can troubleshoot and adapt.
For example: “Partway through assembling 8 parts, you realize a constraint configuration prevents proper motion. How would you diagnose the issue and what would your recovery approach be?”
5.Technical environment verification
Tasks require specific display and software configuration; evaluators check whether candidates will verify prerequisites or assume they are set up correctly.
For example: “Before starting an assignment, you discover your primary display is 1920x1080 but your secondary is 2560x1440. How would you proceed, and how would you ensure screenshot quality remains consistent?”
A task you may get
Complete a full mechanical design task: create a 3D part with 5-7 features, assemble it with 2-3 other parts, perform a basic simulation, and provide 4-5 high-resolution screenshots documenting your modeling sequence and results.
How to prepare
- Verify your SolidWorks Premium installation and test creating a moderately complex part with constraints and simulations
- Check your display resolution against technical requirements and verify screenshot capture tools can achieve 2.5+ megapixels
- Review example mechanical design tasks and practice documenting your modeling approach and decision points clearly
