An action camera specialist records third-person video footage from specialized mountings for autonomous system training.
What you would do
- Mount compatible 360-degree or high-FOV cameras on harnesses, backpacks, or vehicles following setup specifications
- Record continuous movement across multiple environments including indoor spaces, outdoor terrain, and vehicle interiors
- Maintain stable third-person framing with entire body visible and surrounding context throughout each clip
- Film activities including walking, navigation, and vehicle operation at minimum 720p resolution
- Submit continuous segments of at least 60 seconds each with no dropped frames or technical defects
Who they want
- Ownership or reliable access to a compatible action camera (Insta360 X3/X4, GoPro MAX, DJI Osmo) with 720p+ output
- Experience with third-person mounting systems such as backpack harnesses or vehicle mounts specific to action cameras
- Understanding of camera frame composition, field-of-view requirements, and stable positioning during movement
- Comfort and reliability performing repetitive capture tasks across varying environmental conditions
- Flexibility to work in outdoor and vehicle scenarios while maintaining camera stability and consistency
Main skills
What the interview asks about
1.Third-person mounting setup and verification
Incorrect mounting height or angle causes loss of body visibility or environmental context, making entire clips unusable since the AI system needs consistent body-centered reference points.
For example: “You're testing a new backpack mount where the camera is positioned 8 inches lower than on your previous setup. How do you verify the body framing will stay consistent when you walk and turn around a corner?”
2.Stability and motion during challenging terrain
Footage with significant camera shake, jitter, or rotation loss prevents accurate training of vision models that detect movement and spatial changes, since unstable video introduces noise into the training data.
For example: “You're filming yourself walking across rocky terrain where the ground is uneven. Your camera starts to tilt sideways during one section. How would you adjust your technique or equipment for the next take?”
3.Environment variety and capture planning
Training datasets require diversity in lighting, surfaces, obstacles, and navigation types, so your ability to adapt consistently to different environments without compromising technical quality determines dataset completeness.
For example: “You need to capture three 90-second clips: one inside a narrow hallway with overhead fluorescent lights, one in bright outdoor sunlight, and one from inside a moving vehicle. What differences in setup or technique would you apply to each scenario?”
4.Clip submission and format compliance
Clips with technical defects, resolution mismatches, or duration violations waste training time and must be re-shot, increasing costs and delaying delivery of usable data.
For example: “You submit 10 clips at 1280x720, but accidentally save two at 1920x1080. The system rejects both for format mismatch. What pre-submission checks would prevent this error?”
A task you may get
Record three 90-second clips in third-person: indoor walking, outdoor obstacle navigation, and vehicle recording. Verify frame stability, body visibility, and consistent resolution.
How to prepare
- Test your camera mounting system to confirm stable positioning and consistent framing before beginning longer recording sessions
- Review project specifications for camera angle, field-of-view, resolution, and minimum clip duration to avoid rejects
- Practice natural walking and movement patterns while maintaining camera stability and awareness of frame boundaries
- Document your setup (mount type, camera model, height, angle) so you can reproduce identical framing across multiple recording days
