A camera operator who records 360-degree video from third-person perspectives to train AI models on real-world movement and navigation.
What you would do
- Mount a 360-degree camera in a third-person position above and behind your body using a harness or backpack extension arm
- Record continuous clips of natural activities, walking through environments, vehicle navigation, and other assigned tasks
- Maintain camera positioning so your full body and surrounding environment remain consistently visible throughout motion
- Capture footage at minimum 720p resolution with clips at least 60 seconds long, following specified field of view and camera angle requirements
- Upload recordings to the platform and incorporate feedback if clips require re-shooting or retouching
Who they want
- Access to a compatible 360-degree camera (Insta360, GoPro MAX, DJI Osmo, or similar) with 170+ degree field of view and 720p recording
- Ability to assemble and properly use camera mounting equipment like backpack harnesses or vehicle mounts for stable third-person recording
- Attention to technical specifications including resolution, clip length, field of view, and framing consistency
- Willingness to perform repetitive recording tasks across varied environments and activity types
- Flexibility to work independently on variable schedule as projects and equipment shipment allow
Main skills
What the interview asks about
1.Third-person framing and stability
AI models depend on consistently framed third-person video where the subject remains visible; poor framing or unstable mounting produces unusable training data.
For example: “Your backpack mount shows your head and shoulders on the left edge with mostly background. Spec says your entire body must be visible. What's wrong, and how would you adjust the mount or camera angle?”
2.Equipment assembly and mounting
Correct mount setup is the foundation for usable video; loose harnesses or misaligned cameras cause drift during motion, ruining clips mid-recording.
For example: “You receive a new backpack harness and extension arm. Walk through your steps to secure the camera so it won't shift during 10 minutes of continuous walking. What checks would you do before starting to record?”
3.Technical specification compliance
AI training requires consistent data quality; recordings that miss minimum resolution, duration, or FOV requirements can't be used and waste time in the review process.
For example: “Your camera is set to record at 1080p, but your task specifies 720p minimum. Your first 15 clips pass review at 1080p resolution. Should you continue recording at 1080p, switch to 720p, or record both? Why does this matter for the project?”
4.Maintaining frame during varied motion
Training data quality drops if the subject leaves the frame during intended recording; capturing sustained natural movement with consistent composition is technically challenging.
For example: “Recording in a parking lot, you stay centered on flat ground, but turn sharply or go uphill and drift toward the frame edge. How would you adjust gait, camera angle, or mount to stay centered?”
5.Responding to quality feedback
Revisions are normal; understanding why clips fail quality review and fixing the root cause improves acceptance rate and reduces wasted effort.
For example: “Quality review rejects 3 of your 10 submitted clips, noting 'subject leaves frame in seconds 22-25' and 'camera angle inconsistent with provided example.' For the resubmission, describe how you would diagnose the issue and adjust your next recording attempt.”
A task you may get
Design a camera setup and describe how you would record a 2-minute continuous clip from a third-person perspective. Explain your mount choice, camera angle, positioning, and how you'd verify framing before and during recording to ensure technical compliance.
How to prepare
- Watch provided recording examples to understand the exact third-person perspective, frame composition, and subject positioning required
- Practice assembling any camera mounts you have access to and test recording short clips to identify stability issues or framing problems
- Review technical specifications carefully: FOV requirements, resolution, clip length, frame rate, and the exact camera mounting angle and distance from subject
- Identify locations and activities where you can safely record continuous movement in varied lighting and environments
