You configure and maintain CRM systems and revenue tools that keep sales and customer success operations running smoothly and accurately.
What you would do
- Set up and optimize CRM configurations to match how sales and revenue teams actually work
- Connect billing, quoting, ticketing, and project tools to the CRM so data flows cleanly between systems
- Build step-by-step workflows and documentation that teams adopt and follow
- Spot and fix data gaps or inconsistencies that undermine reporting and decision-making
- Resolve tensions when different policies or requirements conflict with each other
Who they want
- 4+ years hands-on experience in SaaS revenue, sales, or customer success operations
- Proven ability to configure and maintain CRM platforms; direct experience with Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar is required
- Comfortable working with at least two connected tools beyond the CRM (billing systems, ticketing, quoting platforms, etc.)
- Strong judgment when navigating competing priorities and operational trade-offs
- Clear written and verbal communication, with ability to create useful documentation for teams across functions
Main skills
What the interview asks about
1.CRM customization under pressure
Sales operations changes are constant in high-growth teams; you need to adapt system configurations without breaking existing workflows or losing data integrity.
For example: “Walk me through how you redesigned a Salesforce workflow when a sales team merged with a customer success team and needed to track overlapping accounts differently. How did you keep the old data intact while aligning processes?”
2.Multi-system data integrity
When billing, quoting, and CRM are disconnected, revenue totals don't match, forecasts are unreliable, and teams waste time debugging. You need to own this end-to-end.
For example: “Tell me about a time data wasn't syncing correctly between your CRM and a billing or quoting tool. How did you identify where the break was, and what steps did you take to prevent it from happening again?”
3.Operational judgment under ambiguity
You often face conflicting requirements - sales wants one workflow, finance wants another, CS wants a third. You have to make judgment calls without overcomplicating the system.
For example: “Describe a situation where sales and finance had different requirements for how to track revenue. What process did you design, and how did you explain why it made sense to both teams?”
4.Documentation and team adoption
Clear documentation determines whether teams follow a new workflow or revert to workarounds. You're responsible for making procedures easy to understand and maintain.
For example: “Give an example of a workflow or process you documented that actually got used by the team. How did you know your documentation was clear and complete enough?”
5.Technical troubleshooting and escalation
You need to know when a problem is configuration, integration, or a platform limitation, and when to involve vendor support or engineering.
For example: “Describe a technical issue you encountered in a CRM or revenue tool that you couldn't solve with configuration alone. How did you troubleshoot it and what was the outcome?”
A task you may get
Analyze a SaaS team's Salesforce and billing integration gaps with conflicting sales-CS policies. Propose a phased plan to improve data accuracy and adoption.
How to prepare
- Review a recent Salesforce or HubSpot release and think about how specific new features could solve operational challenges you've encountered
- Document one workflow you own or have owned, noting where teams struggle to follow it and why
- Prepare a story about a policy conflict you resolved, focusing on your reasoning and how you communicated the decision
- Research common integration patterns between CRM, billing, and quoting platforms - be ready to discuss trade-offs
