What the interview asks about

  1. 1.Audience-appropriate evaluation

Content for an executive differs from technical documentation or end-user guides. Interview checks whether you can identify what works for one audience but fails for another.

For example: “You receive release notes claiming a new feature is available. For end users, that's sufficient. For support teams, what else would you need to see? How would you score the same content differently?”

  2. 2.Spotting fluent failures

Fluent prose can hide missing information or wrong answers. Interview assesses your ability to read carefully and identify what's not said.

For example: “A spec answers how to use a feature but skips edge cases: what happens if the input exceeds a limit? How would you score this, and what would your rationale say?”

  3. 3.Factual accuracy and consistency

Generative content sometimes hallucinates or contradicts itself. Interview checks whether you catch subtle errors and internal inconsistencies.

For example: “A release note says a feature launches on Q3 but later mentions it's in beta until Q4. Walk me through how you'd document this finding in your score rationale.”

  4. 4.Specification evaluation

You've written specs and acceptance criteria. Interview probes whether you can judge whether an AI-written spec is clear, complete, and actionable for engineers.

For example: “An AI-generated acceptance criterion says the system should be 'fast enough.' What's missing? What would you ask the content to include, and how would you score it?”

  5. 5.Constraint and requirement checking

Content must meet specific constraints: tone, length, format. Interview checks whether you rigorously verify compliance.

For example: “A prompt asks for a 100-150 word summary in professional tone with no jargon. The AI returns 180 words with technical terms. How would you handle this in your score?”

A task you may get

Evaluate a release note against three criteria: clarity for end users, completeness for support, and tone consistency. Score it and write a rationale explaining what works, what's missing, and how it could improve.

How to prepare

  • Collect 5-10 product documents you've written or reviewed: PRDs, specs, release notes, decision documents. Note what made them effective or weak.
  • Practice writing detailed feedback on writing samples. Be specific: what's unclear, who does it confuse, what's missing for the intended audience?
  • Study your experience judging content for different audiences. How would you explain the difference in evaluation for an exec summary vs. a technical spec?
  • Review examples of fluent writing that fails to deliver: find writing that sounds good but misses the mark, and articulate exactly what's wrong.
